The License which has been granted to Mr. HENRY DICKIE, Manager for this Company, for distilling, specifies for only the premises situated upon Marine Lot No. 281.
It is the desire of the Company to carry on the business of Distillation also in their premises situated upon part of Inland Lots 749, 781 and 782, hitherto known as the Hongkong Distillery, and we beg to be informed whether the License, now issued in name of Mr. DICKIE, can be transferred so as to enable the Company to distil in the last named premises. If not, we beg to request that His Excellency the Governor will grant a License to this Company, authorising them to do so, or if it cannot be granted in name of the Company, then in that of their Manager Mr. HENRY DICKIE.

On 12th instant, we had the honour of transmitting to you, for submission to His Excellency the Governor, our application for an extension of the existing license, to distil spirits, held by Mr. DICKIE, the Manager of the Company.
No communication in reply has, as yet, reached us from you, and, as the delay is beginning to cause serious inconvenience at the works, we venture to request that the matter may receive His Excellency's early attention.

I have the honor, by desire of the Governor, to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th instant enquiring whether the Distillery License granted to Mr. DICKIE for Lot 281 can be transferred to lots Nos. 749, 781 and 782 hitherto known as the Hongkong Distillery. In reply, I am to inform you that the question of the license is under consideration.
